FAQs

How do I order the MSDA Test?

You can order through the Octave provider portal, by contacting our clinical team directly, or by downloading and completing a requisition form. If you're a prescriber, complete the form above and an Octave team member will be in touch.

What is the turnaround time for results?

Results are delivered in an average of 4 business days from sample receipt, sent directly to the ordering prescriber.

How much will patients pay out of pocket?

Out-of-pocket cost varies by patient. Octave accepts all insurances, and for patients with a remaining balance, flexible payment plans and a financial assistance program are available for those who qualify. The Octave Cares financial assistance program is available for eligible patients.

How often should patients be tested?

Testing cadence depends on the clinical scenario. Common intervals include baseline before DMT initiation or switching, then repeat testing at 3–6 months.

Does the MSDA Test replace MRI?

No, The MSDA Test does not replace MRI. The MSDA Test is designed to complement MRI by providing biological insight, with a quantitative blood-based view of disease activity, that MRI imaging alone cannot capture.

What makes the MSDA Test different from single-biomarker approaches?

The MSDA Test is the first and only multi-protein blood test designed specifically for MS, producing a quantitative score that indicates low, moderate, or high disease activity. The MSDA Test measures 18 biomarkers across 4 biological pathways, providing a comprehensive view of disease activity rather than a single marker.

Where can patients get their blood drawn?

Blood draws can be performed at Quest Diagnostics (7,000+ locations nationwide), Any Lab Test Now, or any designated phlebotomy site. Your provider may also designate a specific location.

Is the MSDA Test covered by insurance?

Octave accepts all insurances. For patients with a remaining balance, flexible payment plans and a financial assistance program are available for those who qualify.
